OUR PURPOSE:
To provide a warm, nurturing environment that encourages the development of the “whole child.”
OUR PROGRAM:
Children will:
- develop social relationships with peers as well as adults.
- develop a sense of security and trust outside the home.
- learn to use their senses and discover many basic skills while working with a variety of materials.
- develop self-control while learning to follow directions.
- be exposed to the creative arts: music, dance, drama, poetry, painting, drawing, and cooking.
- be involved in physical activity to develop motor skills.
- celebrate the holidays with special activities and parties.
- be exposed to preschool language arts, science, math and social studies as part of a planned curriculum.
- learn health habits and safety rules.
- learn more about themselves and their world.
OUR STAFF:
- The coordinator is responsible for the administration and the daily operation of the Nursery School.
- The teachers are responsible for implementing the curriculum in the classroom.
- The following are the certifications and the qualifications required of all staff members:
- A Criminal Record Check/PA Child Abuse History Clearance
- A Current CPR/First Aid Certification
ENROLLMENT:
- Registration Fee is $50.00 per child, per year, and must be postmarked by May 1, 2009. After May 1st, the Registration Fee is $60.00.
- Children must reach their appropriate birthday by December 31st of the year they will be attending. For Pre-K, children must turn 4 before October 1st of that year.
- All families have an equal opportunity to enroll children of any race, color or creed.
- Enrollment is based on a first-come, first-serve basis.
- We recommend that all children enrolled in the UCC Greenawalds Nursery School are toilet trained, except in the “Mommy & Me” class.
HEALTH/SICKNESS POLICY:
- Each child is required to have a Medical Examination form completed by his/her physician prior to attending the Nursery School.
- Parents are requested to keep children at home if there is any indication of a cold, fever or other illness.
- Parents are requested to keep children at home if the child has vomited or had diarrhea or a fever within the past 24 hours.
- Please call to inform the Nursery School staff of an absentee or late arrival at 610-435-5467.
- Staff members are not permitted to administer any medication; however, parents should notify the coordinator, in writing, of any medications being taken.
- The Nursery School is not held responsible in case of an accident or injury. All children are under supervision at all times and every effort is made to protect their health and safety.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
- The Day Nursery is not a state licensed facility.
- Transportation is the responsibility of the parents.
- Children are requested to bring a smock and a change of clothes in case of bathroom accidents. These items will be kept for the term. The art smock should cover as much of the child’s clothing as possible. Change of clothing should be season appropriate — please update them throughout the year.
- Birthdays are celebrated for each child. Summer birthdays are celebrated at our closing picnic. Parents should feel free to stay for the day when celebrating their child’s birthday. The teacher will let the parent read the story, help with the craft, etc.
- Some of our special events are: Holiday Family Sing-a-Long, Mother’s Day Tea, Daddy & Me Night, Family Picnic, and Closing Program for all classes with a Graduation for our 4 and 5 year olds.
- Educational Field Trips will be taken throughout the year. A parental permission slip will be provided and must be signed by a parent or guardian for each field trip. Parents or guardian will drive their own children. Should parent or guardian not be able to, they must contact the coordinator in advance for other arrangements. Shirts provided by the school must be worn on all field trips.
- “Snow Days” in excess of four (4) for Pre-K’s, three (3) for 4 yr. old classes, two (2) for 3 yr. old classes and one (1) for “Mommy & Me” classes will be made up beginning in March. If your child is unable to attend a scheduled makeup day, no tuition reduction is available.
- On “Late Start Days” the following schedule will be in effect: 10am-12pm for the 3’s, 4’s and Pre-K;
10am-11:30am for the M&M’s. - Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held during the year.

4 Year Old Class – Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, 9:00am-11:30am
Pre-K Class- Monday thru Thursday, 9:00am-11:30am
Lunch Bunch
Tuesday 11:30am-12:30 (first & second week of the month)
Thursday 11:30am-12:30 (third & fourth week of the month)
(Fifth week of the month… No Lunch Bunch)
